About this site
Danziger Projects is a reference on the gallery districts of New York — the buildings, the dealers and the addresses, from 57th Street to Brooklyn.
The site is organised by district rather than by dealer, because the districts are what the record is really about: a floor of one office building on 57th Street in 1946, a manufacturing zone below Houston in 1968, seven years of storefronts east of Second Avenue, a run of garages on the far west side from 1994, and the spread after 2007 to the Bowery, Tribeca and across the river.
Each district has a landing page carrying its full list. Thirty pieces sit beneath them, each built around named buildings, named programmes and dated addresses. Opening years and street numbers follow the galleries' and institutions' own published accounts; where a building's date comes from its architects' project record, the piece says so.
The chart on the front page runs each district from the first gallery to open in it to the year the last of the founding programmes left. The map pins thirteen anchor addresses at their true coordinates.
